Play Doppelkopf online for free

Doppelkopf ("Doko" for short) is one of Germany's best-loved card games, and you can play it free in your browser: against three bots, or at a private table with friends and family. No download, no account.

It is a trick-taking game for four players with two of every card from nine to ace. The two players who hold the queen of clubs (Re) play together against the other two (Kontra), but nobody says who they are: you find your partner as the cards fall. Re needs 121 of the 240 card points.

How to play Doppelkopf

  1. Deal. Everyone gets twelve cards (ten without the nines). The player left of the dealer leads, and the deal moves one seat to the left every game.
  2. Vorbehalt. Before the first card each player says "gesund" or claims a Vorbehalt: a Hochzeit with both queens of clubs, or a solo against the other three.
  3. Trumps. The ten of hearts (the Dulle) is the highest trump, then the four queens, the four jacks and the diamonds. Clubs, spades and hearts are plain suits. Trumps follow trumps.
  4. Announce. Say Re or Kontra early (before your second card) to double down on your side, and go further with keine 90, keine 60, keine 30 or schwarz.
  5. Score. Re needs 121, Kontra 120. The winners score a point for winning and more for the losers falling under 90, 60 or 30, for each announcement, and Sonderpunkte for catching a Fuchs, a Doppelkopf trick and Karlchen.

Play against bots on three levels

The bots never see your cards. Easy bots often play any card they may; Medium bots play their aces, smear points onto a partner's trick and go after your Fuchs; Hard bots also count every card and remember who is out of which suit, play solos and Hochzeiten with the right hands, and announce Re or Kontra when their hand is strong. Choose 24 or 12 games, with or without the nines.
