Learn how to playTiến Lên (tiến lên miền nam) is the most popular card game in Vietnam, and you can play it free in your browser — no download and no sign-up. It is a 4-player shedding game with a standard 52-card deck: be the first to get rid of all 13 of your cards.
In English, Tiến Lên is usually called Thirteen, after the 13 cards each player is dealt. It is also known simply as Vietnamese cards, and in Taiwan as 越南大老二 ("Vietnamese Big 2") because it is a close cousin of Big 2.
Cards rank from 3 (lowest) up to 2 (highest), and suits rank spades, clubs, diamonds, hearts — so the 2♥ is the strongest card in the game. Straights can be any length of three or more, and there are no five-card poker hands.
The big twist is the chop (chặt): four of a kind or three consecutive pairs can beat a single 2, and four consecutive pairs can beat a pair of 2s. Saving a chop for the right moment is how most games are won.
Every game is a full 4-player table against three AI opponents. Pick Easy for a relaxed pace while you learn, Medium for a balanced challenge, or Hard for strategic, competitive AI. Games start instantly and work on desktop, tablet and phone.
Card and suit rankings, every valid combination, and exactly when four of a kind or consecutive pairs can chop a 2.
