Play Belote online for free

Belote is France's favourite card game, and you can play it free in your browser: you and a bot partner against two bots, or a private table for four friends and family. No download, no account.

It is a trick-taking game for two teams of two, partners sitting opposite, with a 32-card deck from 7 to ace. In the trump suit the jack and the nine jump to the top, and every card is worth points: the team that takes the trump has to score more than the other team.

How to play Belote

  1. Deal. Everyone gets five cards and the next card is turned face up.
  2. Take. In turn, take the turned card's suit as trumps or pass. If everyone passes, a second round lets you name any other suit. The taker gets the turned card, and everyone is dealt up to eight.
  3. Announce. On your first card, announce a sequence (tierce, cinquante, cent) or four of a kind. Hold the king and queen of trumps? Say belote and rebelote for 20 more.
  4. Play. Follow suit. Out of the suit, you must trump unless your partner is winning, and you must always go over a trump if you can.
  5. Score. Count the card points (162 a deal with the last trick). If the takers score less than the defenders, they are dedans and the defenders take everything. First team to 1000 wins.

Play with a bot partner

The bots never see your cards. Easy bots take on a hunch; Medium bots weigh their trumps and aces before taking and cash their master cards; Hard bots also count every card played, note who is out of a suit, draw trumps when they take, and put points on the tricks their partner is sure to win. Choose a full game to 1000 or a short one to 501.
