Chinese Poker, also called 13 card poker, deals every player 13 cards and asks one question: how will you split them? Set a back hand of 5 cards, a middle hand of 5 and a front hand of 3, then compare each row with every other player. No betting, no bluffing, just the arrangement.

Play it free in your browser against up to three bots, or start a private table and send the link to your friends: bots take any empty seat. No download, no app and no sign-up.

How to play Chinese Poker

  1. The deal. 2 to 4 players, 13 cards each from one 52-card deck. Everyone sets their hand at the same time, with 90 seconds on the clock.
  2. Three hands. Back: 5 cards. Middle: 5 cards. Front: 3 cards, where only high card, a pair or three of a kind count. Each row shows its hand name as you arrange it.
  3. Keep them in order. The back must be at least as strong as the middle, and the middle at least as strong as the front. Otherwise the hand is fouled and loses everything. The auto-arrange button suggests the best legal split.
  4. Compare row by row. Front against front, middle against middle, back against back, with each other player in turn. Each row won is worth 1 unit, more with a royalty.
  5. Scoops and naturals. Win all three rows against a player for a scoop: 6 units under 1-6 scoring. A dragon, six pairs, three straights or three flushes can be declared to win without a showdown.

Scoring and the bots

Before a game, choose 1-6 scoring (the default) or 2-4, royalties on or off, and 10 hands or a short game of 5. Every unit won is a unit lost by someone, so the totals add up to zero; the highest total wins.

The bots never see your cards and never foul. Choose easy, medium or hard: Hard bots test their best splits against imaginary hands dealt from the cards they cannot see, pick the one that scores best under the table's rules, and only declare a natural when it pays more than playing the hand.
