Play the Sueca card game online for free

Sueca is the national card game of Portugal, and you can play it free in your browser: you and a bot partner against two bots, or a private table for four friends and family. No download, no account.

It is a trick-taking game for two teams of two, partners sitting opposite, with a 40-card deck (no 8, 9 or 10). The dealer's last card is shown to everyone and sets trumps, so there is no bidding: just ten tricks, following suit, and 120 points to share. Take 61 and your team wins the deal.

How to play Sueca

  1. Deal. Everyone gets ten cards. The dealer's last card is turned up for everyone to see, and its suit is trumps; the dealer keeps it in hand.
  2. Anticlockwise. As in Portugal, play goes to the right. The player on the dealer's right leads the first trick.
  3. Play. Follow suit if you can. If you can't, play any card: you don't have to trump. The highest trump wins, else the highest card of the suit led.
  4. Count. Ace 11, seven 10, king 4, jack 3, queen 2: 120 points a deal. 61 to 90 wins one game, 91 or more (capote) two, all 120 (bandeira) four.
  5. Win. The first team to four games wins the partida. Play one partida, or the best of three.

Play with a bot partner

The bots never see your cards. Easy bots often play any card; Medium bots lead their aces, keep their sevens back while the ace is out, and load your tricks with points when you are sure to win; Hard bots also count every card played, note who is out of a suit, lead suits you can trump, and know that the dealer still holds the turned-up card.
