Big 2 (大老二, Big Two) is one of the most-played card games across Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, and you can play it here free in your browser — no download and no account required. It is a 4-player shedding game with a standard 52-card deck, and the goal is to be the first to play all 13 of your cards.

The game has many names: Deuces, Cho Dai Di (鋤大D) in Cantonese, Pusoy Dos in the Philippines and Capsa Banting in Indonesia. The rules are close to universal — and the 2 is always the biggest card, which is where the name comes from.

How to play Big 2

  1. Deal. All 52 cards are dealt, 13 to each player.
  2. Open with the 3♦. The player holding the three of diamonds leads first, and their opening play must include it.
  3. Beat or pass. Each player must beat the previous play with a higher combination of the same number of cards, or pass.
  4. Take control. When the other three players pass, you lead the next play with any combination you choose.
  5. Win. The first player to empty their hand wins the game.

Big 2 card order and hand rankings

Cards rank from 3 (lowest) to 2 (highest). When ranks tie, the suit decides: diamonds, then clubs, then hearts, with spades highest — so the 2♠ is the single most powerful card.

You can play singles, pairs, triples and five-card hands. Five-card hands rank, from lowest to highest: straight, flush, full house, four of a kind (plus any fifth card), and straight flush.
